Speed Watch Call For Volunteers
The Parish Council, with the wide support of Weald residents, lobbied hard last year to have a 20 mph limit introduced in the centre of the village. The Parish Council is very disappointed that this new speed limit and the 30 mph and 40 mph limits in the rest of the village are being ignored by much of the traffic travelling through the village. Vehicles travelling above the speed limits are hazardous to other road users and pedestrians and offenders must be brought to the attention of the police.
The Parish Council is therefore planning to form a local speed watch group and is looking for volunteers to join the group. Volunteers will receive online training from Kent Police and the SIDs (speed indication devices) will be provided by the Parish Council.
To learn more about speed watch and what a volunteer would be expected to do please check out: www.kent.police.uk/speedwatch
If you are interested in joining please John Caird, the Parish Clerk, at wealdparishclerk@btinternet.com Your early response would be appreciated. We would like to get the speed watch group up and running this summer.
