Purchase of Memorial Hall Field
PARISH COUNCIL BUYS THE MEMORIAL HALL FIELD
Weald Parish Council is pleased to report that it has purchased the Memorial Hall Field which currently houses the Children’s Play Area.
Previously, the Field was on lease to the Parish Council. This lease was due to expire in June, 2024 with no guarantee that the lease would be extended.
To safeguard the Field and the children’s play area for current and future users the Parish Council entered into negotiations with the owners of the Field, who had recently inherited the land, to acquire the Field. The legal formalities tookmuch longer than expected with the land transferring to the Parish Council’s ownership on 18th January, 2024.
The Parish Council is delighted that this important recreational asset will now be available to generations of children, walkers, dogs and other users.
The Parish Council plans to soon repair the fencing around the children’s play area and in the lower part of the field to plant a wild flower area that will have walk ways through to the byway and picnic areas amongst the flowers.
